This book was created on the foundation of a sketchy diary kept by the author during the three months her daughter, Karen Lewis, was hospitalized at Bryan LGH East Medical Center and at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Lincoln, Neb., following a cerebral aneurysm. It includes memories and reflections of the author as she sat by her daughter's bedside. It also includes pictures of clay sculpture created by Karen before the aneurysm as well as poems written by her during the same period of time, each tied in some way to the particular incidents of the day reviewed. Also included are eight pages in a section written by Karen entitled "My Life in a Dysfunctional Body."
