(Andrew shouted angry words when his sister spilled his to...)
Andrew shouted angry words when his sister spilled his toys. He was instantly sorry, but Marion had already shouted the angry words over the phone to Ted. Andrew ran to Ted's house--but it was too late. Ted had already passed them along, and the angry words were loose in the world. Children learn very early just how powerful words can be. Meredith returns, and her magic spells are as unpredictable as ever. Meredith accidentally utters the spell for uninvited guests, and -- whoosh! -- a little sorcerer with an insatiable appetite flies in and plops himself down at her table. ""Hungry!"" he screeches, and Meredith has her hands full first trying to feed him, and then trying to get rid of him. What follows is a battle of fantastically funny spells that lasts until lunchtime and teaches her to mind her words and watch out for unexpected magic. "I want to respect the divine spirit in each creature."
Quotations:
"Occasionally the initial spark is just a sentence that comes to my mind, or a picture. Sometimes, when I have more ideas than I can work on simultaneously, I put some of them into my ‘Think-folder’. And sometimes they turn out completely different after thinking about them than they were intended before.
To the past two years I have gotten a special thrill out of trying to achieve as much as possible with brevity. I omit everything that seems unnecessary, give away as little as possible, thus challenging — and trusting — the children’s own potential for phantasies. And I hope to eventually write not only for reading hut also for the stage.
Sometimes I think it would not be good (not healthy ln some way) to write/think too much instead of simply ‘to live’ and have interest also for real people. Then I should forget my paper-figures for some hours or days."
Mrs. Knobloch has one son Andreas.
