Borg, Dorothy was born on September 4, 1902 in Elberon, New Jersey, United States.

Education

A native of the Elberon section of Long Branch, New Jersey, she graduated from Wellesley College and from Columbia University with a master's and doctoral degrees.

Career

Although she did not hold faculty appointments, her multi-archival and objective scholarship influenced the development of the field of American history of foreign relations. She was a researcher at Harvard University, where she helped organize programs that trained scholars in American and East Asian history. From 1966 until her retirement, she was a senior research associate at Columbia University's East Asian Institute, lecturing and directing academic conferences.
