Edward Everett Evans was born on November 30, 1893, in Michigan, United States.
Edward Everett Evans was an enthusiastic science fiction fan for many years before he began writing. The passion led him to such fun groups as the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society and the Fantasy Amateur Press Association. In the latter, he was responsible for years for the publication of the amateur fan magazine, or fanzine, titled ‘A Tale of the 'Evans’.
In the 1940s, he edited the fanzine ‘The Time-Binder’, the bulletin ‘Bonfire’ and many one-shot publications for the National Fantasy Fan Federation. Evans presided the Federation from 1943 to 1945. In 1945, he became a founding editor of its publication the National Fantasy Fan.
Edward Everett Evans was nearly sixty years old when his first novel, ‘Man of Many Minds’, was published by Fantasy Press in 1953. In that book, Evans combined espionage activities with an interstellar theme to produce a successful suspense adventure. In a couple of years, his novel for children, ‘The Planet Mappers’, and ‘Alien Minds’ followed.
Some of Evans’s short stories considered by critics as the author’s best writings, were collected in one book ‘Food for Demons’ first published in 1959. The posthumously-published collaboration with Edward Elmer Smith, ‘Masters of Space’, was issued in 1976.
