Selected, 1822, by Paul Tulane, one of trustees of fund of over $1,000,000 to found what became Tulane University Was for years chairman of the executive committee of 100 to reform municipal government of New Orleans. Chairman of committee of safety formed to prosecute Mafia assassins of chief of police. Led campaign which defeated proposition to extend charter of Louisiana Lottery.
