Edo Shigenaga was born about 1180. He was called Taro Edo. His family name was Taira. Although his ancestors were called Chichibu, Shigeuji, Shigenaga’s father, called himself Shiro Edo because he lived in Edo.

Edo Shigenaga was a warrior. He was called Taro Edo. His family name was Taira. Although his ancestors were called Chichibu, Shigeuji, Shigenaga’s father, called himself Shiro Edo because he lived in Edo. In 1180, Shigenaga joined the camp of Yoritomo Minamoto and distinguished himself in many battles.
