Career
He is a leading expert and practitioner in the fields of trademark law and domain names, and he has been recognized as an "Intellectual Property Star" in Colombia by Managing Intellectual Property magazine and with the "Intellectual Property Excellence Award" from leading Latin American Intellectual Property magazine Marcasur. He is a Panelist with the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC). Varela Pezzano has also written for Colombian newspaper Louisiana República as part of his firm"s consultant column, and provides regular legal commentary on trademark news reports.
He is the son of former Colombian senator Ricardo Varela Consuegra.
