In 1898 Eduardo Diez de Medina began as an assistant undersecretary of state in Bolivia. He then became an undersecretary, acting secretary and secretary of state until 1923. In 1918 he was a minister to Paraguay, to Uruguay, in 1919, to Argentina in 1924, to Chile in 1926, to Peru in 1927.
Eduardo Diez de Medina was an Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the United States in Washington, District of Columbia, since 1928. He was also the author of 20 books, chiefly on international relations.
Eduardo Diez de Medina was a member of the Institute of International Law (Washington), Society Geográfica de Madrid, Institute de Derecho Internacional (Buenos Aires).
On July 12, 1906 Eduardo Diez de medina married Etelvina Guachalla. They had four children: Fernando, Raul, Maria Hortensia, Gabriela.
