Entered Bombay Education Department, 1873, as Professor of History and Political Economy, Elphinstone College, Bombay. Inspector of Schools, 1875. Member of Bombay Legislative Council, 1898-1902, 1904, 1906-1907.
Director of Public Instruction, Bombay Presidency, 1897-1907.
Officiating Director General of Education in India, 1907-1908. Retired from service, 1908.
