Brought to Los Angeles in boyhood by his parents, he received a public school education in the city, and studied architecture and engineering at Columbia University in New York.
Following his return to California, Mr. Taylor opened an office for practice in Los Angeles in 1912, and except for a period in World War I when he served overseas with the U. S, Engineers' Corps, carried on work in southern California until Ill-health caused his retirement a few years prior to his decease.
Associated in partnership with a brother, Ellis Wing Taylor, and for a number of years employed as architects and designers by Donald Douglas of Santa Monica on the original buildings of the latter’s Aircraft Factory. Taylor & Taylor also planned later additions to the plant, now one of the largest and most important in the country.
