Edward Everett Hayden, American naval officer.


Hayden, Edward Everett was born on April 14, 1858 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Son of William and Louise Annie (Dorr) Hayden.


Graduated from the United States Naval Academy, 1879.


Promoted through grades to rear admiral, retired, June 30, 1921. Assistant geologist, United States Geological Survey, 1885. Marine meteorologist, United States Hydrographic Office, and editor pilot chart, 1886-1892.

In charge Naval Observatory, Mare Island, California, 1898, branch hydrographic office, Manila, 1899. In charge, department chronometers and time service, United States Naval Observatory, Washington, 1902-1910, commandant United States Naval Station, Key West, Florida, 1910-1915. President General Court Martial, Navy Yard, Norfolk, Virginia, 1916-1921.


Married Kate Reynolds, December 12, 1882. Children: Reynolds, Herbert Bainbridge, William (deceased), Dorothy, Alfred Dorr, Mary Bainbridge.
