Edward James Ofengand, American research biochemist, consultant, educator. Achievements include among the first to isolate and characterize transfer Ribonucleic acid, the first to identify the ribosomal Ribonucleic acid component of the decoding site on the ribosome and locate it on the ribosome surface, and the first to devise a way to map pseudouridines in large Ribonucleic acid molecules.
