Eiji Yamashita became the member of the League of Kubota Steel Plant Workers and participated in labor movement. He was elected to Amagasaki Municipal Assembly and Hyogo Prefectural Assembly twice respectively. Four times Eiji Yamashita was elected to the House of Representatives and served as the member of Steering Committee and Standing Committee for Construction of the House of Representatives.
Eiji Yamashita assumed additional posts of chairman of Hyogo Prefectural League of Right-Wing Socialist Party, adviser of Amagasaki District Council of Labor Unions and chief director of Amagasaki Welfare Association.
Being a Japanese representative he attended London Conference of Socialist International. He was the member of Central Executive Committee of Right-Wing Socialist Party. He was the member of the House of Representatives from the Socialist Party.
