Feeney was born in Galway and has lived much of her life in Athenry.

She was educated at the town"s Presentation College, and teaches English at Saint Jarlath"s College, Tuam.
Feeney has performed internationally since her first slam success. She is considered one of the "most provocative female poets to come out of Ireland in the last decade" (Fionnaula Flanagan - 2013 - California)
Feeney grew up on a farm in Athenry, Company Galway. She went to Scoil Croi Naofa, Athenry a school she disparages in, The Radio was Gospel, and completed her education at University College Galway, University College Cork and later University of Limerick.
She read with the Chilean Poet, Raul Zurita at the 2015 Versefest in Ottawa, Canada.
