Fisher obtained a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1961.
Since 1976 she has been an associate professor at Southeastern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth, where she started teaching in 1973. Prior to that she was an instructor at various private workshops in Massachusetts, Virginia and New York State (1970-72) and at the School of Fashion Design in Boston (1969-70).
The artist, worked in black-and-white in both small and large formats.
Since 1974 she has been a member of SPE, serving as the first president of their Northeast Region from 1976 to 1978. In 1972 NEA granted her a Fellowship in Photography.
