Joint owner, with son, Frank South., of the Morning and Sunday Ledger, and the News-Tribune, Tacoma, Washington.

Joint owner with son, Alton F., of Register Guard, daily newspaper, Eugene, Oregon Director Associate Press, since 1916. Director American Newspaper Publications Association, 1907-1924 (president 1912-1914).

Trustee Euclid Avenue Congressional Church. Trustee Cleveland Young Men's Christian Association (treasurer since 1925).
