She is probably best known for her role as Lou Ann Poovie on the series Gomer Pyle, United States Marine Corps, but also had a key role in director Francis Coppola"s Oscar-nominated drama The Conversation and other films. Her papers, which include many scripts from the various shows on which she appeared, are held in the Southern Historical Collection of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
