He studied violin in Riga, Latvia with the renowned teacher Voldemar Sturestep.
In 1959, he joined the Gnessin Music School in Moscow Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics where he continued his studies with Michael Garlitsky. He became Second Concertmaster of the Moscow Philharmonic in 1971. In 1973, he emigrated to Israel where he became Concertmaster of the Israel Chamber Orchestra.
Emanuel Borok serves on the violin faculty at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
He previously taught at the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. Borok performs on a violin by Brothers Amati of 1608.
