Educational public schools. Studied music with father and under private instrs.

Career

Organist, Episcopal Church, Kewanee, Illinois, at 12, St. Peter’s Church, Seymour, Connecticut, at 14. Solo alto, St. James Church, Chicago, 1867-1868. Organist and choir director chs. in Nashville, Tennessee, many years.

Prize winner various international song and anthem contests. Gold medalist and honorary life member Nashville Art Association Composer: Favorite Organ Voluntaries. Organ Praise Series; The Diapason.

The Organist’s Helper. Ashford’s Hymn Voluntaries. The Pedal Organ; Vox Celeste.

14 sacred cantatas; over 300 anthems. About 60 sacred songs and duets. Song cycles, graded pieces for piano.
