Emmanuel Anati was born on May 14, 1930 in Florence, Italy. Son of Ugo and Elsa (Castelnuovo) Anati.
In 1948, Emmanuel Anati got the scientific maturity in the "Righi" institute of Rome. He then moved to Jerusalem, where he graduated in archaeology from the local Hebrew University in 1952. In 1959, Emmanuel Anati specialized in anthropology and social sciences at Harvard University. In 1960, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Literature at the Sorbonne in Paris.
Emmanuel Anati worked as an archaeologist in the Israeli Department of Antiquities, 1950-1955, senior lecturer in Tel Aviv University, 1964-1968.
Emmanuel Anati is a founder and executive director of Centro Camuno di Studi Preistorici, Capo di Ponte, Italy, since 1964 and professor at the palaeo-ethnology University of Lecce, 1980-1999.
Also, Emmanuel Anati is a leader in numerous archaeological expeditions; general secretary of national and international symposia. Emmanuel Anati has conducted research in Western Europe, the Near East, and other countries.
