Emperor Yuryaku was born in 418 in Japan.
Ascended the throne after the death of his brother Emperor Anko ( 456) and reigned for 22 years.
After being scolded by Empress Hatahihime he began taking interest in public welfare and encouraged industry, particularly the silk business. Emperor Yuryaku was the first to separate governrrient funds from Court spendings.
After his death he was deified at the Ise Outer Grand Shrine (which he founded) as Toyoke-nokami (god of agriculture).
