Major Seminary of Otclcentered the Society of Jesus in 1951 to study Classics, Philosophy and Theology at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, at Vais ChantillyFourviere, Lyon, and the Sorbonne. Third cycle Doctorate, 1964, Paris, on Christianization and paganism according to St Augustine.
Doctorat d’Etat on the Greek sources of African history ¡n 1970.
Career
President Art Commission Society Africaine de Culture since 1963. Consultant UNESCO 1963-1966. Head, Department, of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Education and Culture 1966-1974.
Secretary-General Ecumenical Association of African Theologians since 1980, Pan-African Movement of Christian Intellectuals. Pan-African co-ordinator, Ecumenical Association of Third World Theologians 1981-1986. Co-President World Conference on Religion and Peace, Africa chapter since 1983.
Views
An artist himself, Mveng is preoccupied by two main problems: that of artistic creation and that of an adaptation of Christianity to African cultures. His claim is that instead of adapting Christianity to the African context one should integrate African cultural structures and intuitions in an acculturated Christianity.
