(Believe it or not, music censorship in America did not be...)
Believe it or not, music censorship in America did not begin with Tipper Gore's horrified reaction to her daughter's Prince album. The vilification of popular music by government and individuals has been going on for decades. Now, for the first time, Parental Advisory offers a thorough and complete chronicle of the music that has been challenged or suppressed - by the people or the government - in the United States. With nearly one hundred fascinating photographs of musicians, record burning, and controversial cover art; illuminating sidebars; and a decade-by-decade timeline of important moments in censorship history, Parental Advisory is by turns frightening and hilarious - but always revealing.

(The undead are everywhere. They're not just in movies and...)
The undead are everywhere. They're not just in movies and books, but in commercials, fetish clubs, and even in your breakfast cereal. Bloodsuckers have become some of the most recognizable bad guys in the modern world, and Eric Nuzum wanted to find out why. He was willing to do whatever it took - even drinking his own blood - in his quest to understand the vampire phenomenon. And he found the answer in Goth clubs, darkened parks, haunted houses, and chain restaurants.

(At once hilarious and incredibly moving, Giving Up the Gh...)
At once hilarious and incredibly moving, Giving Up the Ghost is a memoir of lost love and second chances, and a ghost story like no other. Eric Nuzum is afraid of the supernatural, and for good reason: As a high school oddball in Canton, Ohio, during the early 1980s, he became convinced that he was being haunted by the ghost of a little girl in a blue dress who lived in his parents’ attic. It began as a weird premonition during his dreams, something that his quickly diminishing circle of friends chalked up as a way to get attention. It ended with Eric in a mental ward, having apparently destroyed his life before it truly began.

Eric Nuzum was born in 1966 in Canton, Ohio, United States.
Eric Nuzum received a Bachelor of arts degree from Kent State University in 1988.
Eric Nuzum began his public radio career at WKSU while still a student. Since then, he has worked professionally for WKSU and two other public radio stations as a fundraiser, producer, researcher, and program director. Under his guidance, WKSU won the "Best Sounding Station" nod from PRPD, the industry's program director organization, a record-setting four times. He joined National Public Radio in 2004 and remained that effort’s chief creative and strategic force for the following decade, leading NPR to become the largest distributor of podcasts in the world. In this role, Nuzum leaded NPR's program acquisition, evaluation, and development.
The work included managing NPR's sixteen acquired programs (including Car Talk, Fresh Air, Radiolab, and Snap Judgment), creating new programming for NPR and member stations (such as TED Radio Hour and Ask Me Another), and oversees NPR's weekly quiz show Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! He continued his track record of success during his tenure as Audible’s leader for short-form content and podcasting, creating such recognized podcasts as Sincerely X (another co-production with TED), The Butterfly Effect with Jon Ronson, and Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel. In 2018, he co-founded Magnificent Noise, podcast production and creative consulting company based in New York City.
Outside of public radio, Nuzum has written and published extensively. He is the author of books Parental Advisory: Music Censorship in America (2001) - a polemic against music censorship, Dead Travel Fast: Stalking Vampires from Nosferatu to Count Chocula (2007) - a cultural deep dive on vampires, and a memoir entitled Giving Up The Ghost: A Story About Friendship, 80s Rock, a Lost Scrap of Paper, and What It Means to Be Haunted (2012). His recent book Make Noise: A Creator's Guide to Podcasting and Great Audio Storytelling (2019) is about audio and podcast creation. In this book he talks about what distinguishes the best podcasts.

2007Eric Nuzum loves hearing stories and telling stories. He wastes a lot of time arguing with his friends in bars and playing one mean game of Canasta and drinking beer that he likes very much. His favorite movie is Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.
