Erica James was born as Erica Sullivan in 1960, in the United Kingdom.
Erica James attended comprehensive school and Havant Sixth Form College. She also attended a creative writing course at the Arvon Foundation.
Before Erica James became a writer she ran a small knitting business while raising her two sons. She wrote her first book, A Breath of Fresh Air, in 1996. Her next book was published in 1997. Erica James wrote 20 books and also worked together with Donna Hay and Maureen Lee on a book What A Woman Wants that was published in 2006. Erica divides her time between Suffolk and Lake Como in Italy.
