He studied at Tokyo University and graduated from it in 1914.
In 1924 Etsuzo Komiya was appointed professor at Kumamoto Medical College. Then in 1936 Etsuzo was a director of the hospital and in 1943 he became president of the college. Reaching the age limit in 1947 he resigned to become a professor at Tokyo University of Medicine in 1949. During that time Etsuzo Komiya visited Europe and America several times to inspect and study medical conditions.
Komiya Etsuzo was world famous for his achievements in haematics and the neurotic control of blood. His theory created a sensation in the medical world of Germany in 1937. Later the International Haematics Society of Europe made his theory a subject of study at their 1955 conference and requested his presence.
