Eugene Fama studied at Malden Catholic High School. In 1956, he entered Tufts University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960. Then he studied at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He received a Master of Business Administration degree in 1963 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1964.
In 1962, Eugene Fama took up a position of an assistant professor at the University of Chicago. Later he became an associate professor. In 1968, Fama started to work as a professor of finance and in 1973 he became Robert R. McCormick Distinguished Service Professor of Finance. Fama also worked as a visiting professor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Anderson School of Management.
Eugene Fama published his financial studies in newspapers and magazines. He is considered the father of the efficient-market hypothesis. In 1972, he published his first book The Theory of Finance. He is also the author of Foundations of Finance.
Eugene Fama is known as an American economist, writer, and educator, who is famous for his work on portfolio theory and the efficient-market hypothesis. He wrote such books as The Theory of Finance and Foundations of Finance.
