Eugene Vale was born on April 11, 1916, in Zurich, Switzerland.
In the 1930's, Vale worked in Paris with the director Jean Renoir. At the outbreak of World War II, he left the city and came to the United States to start writing professionally in English. In his later years, Eugene worked in Hollywood and also held a post of a lecturer on film and television writing at the University of Southern California.
Vale's screenplays include "The Second Face" (1950), "Francis of Assisi" (1961) and "A Global Affair" (1964). His books include "Chaos Below Heaven" (1966), a best-seller "Some State of Affairs" (1972), "The Children's Crusade" (1977) and "Passion Play" (1984). Among Eugene's plays are "Devils Galore" (1944), "The Buffoon" and others.
Vale was also the author of about sixty television dramas, including scripts for "Four Star Playhouse", "Fireside Theatre", "Hallmark Hall of Fame" and "Lux Video Theatre".
