(This book, "To Russia With Hope" is in two parts, the fir...)
This book, "To Russia With Hope" is in two parts, the first part is on the Russian Tour to Moscow and St. Petersburg; the second part is on treatment in the United States, especially for the deaf alcoholic and addict. In Russia there is a great need for treatment for the deaf. They are admitted for treatment but there is a lack of interpreters and all communication has to be written by hand. Therefore, "To Russia With Hope" can be a book of inspiration and hope to both countries. One fo the highlights in this second section is an in-depth study on "Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children: A Counselor's Perspective." By Dr. Bill McCrone, Professor, Department of Counseling, Certified Addictions Counselor, Dean, School of Education & Human Resources (1995-2000). Gallaudet University, Washington D.C.
