Fahir Aksoy

Background

Fahir was born in Istanbul in 1917.

Education

Fahir was educated under Fevziye Lisesi and Edirne Lisesi.

Career

After two years of office life, he worked on newspapers such as Vakit, Akşam, Tan. For a while he worked as a redactor at the Press and Foreign Office. He worked on a political newspaper in 1947 and a journal called "Origin" in 1974, writing on topics of culture and art.

Fahir headed an art gallery in İzmir in his later years. His interviews and painting critiques were published in reviews such as Dost and Yeni Dergi. He also organized 120 painting exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad. He lived in Foça, İzmir and Muğla for many years. He died on January 3, 2008 in Erdek.

Achievements

• Fahir Aksoy was acknowledged as one of the most prominent artist by the Ministry of Culture of Turkey.
