Career
Farida Jalal started her career in the 1960s. She won the United Film Producers Talent Hunt sponsored by Filmfare. She starred in her first movie as a child actress, Baby Farida, in the 1960s hit "Chaudvin Ka Chand".
Farida Jalal usually played the sister or rejected fiancée of the main male character but almost never the leading lady. One of her most famous roles is in "Bobby", in which she played with Rishi Kapoor's Raj.
In the 1980s Farida Jalal began to play aunt, mother, grandmother, elderly neighbor or widow. She is also well-known for her role in "Aradhana", in which she plays Rajesh Khanna's girlfriend, and sings the song "Bagon me bahar hai, kaliyon pe nikhar hai". She has been acting for over 40 years.
During the 1990s, Jalal played in many popular films in India, among them "Raja Hindustani", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and so on. She acted in many television serials, such as "Dekh Bahi Dekh". Jalal plays a leading role in "Shararat" (Thoda Jadu, Thodi Nazaakat).
In 2008 Farida Jalal made a special appearance in the Punjabi film "Yaariyan". Recently she appeared in the soap opera "Balika Vadhu".
