Fergus Bourke was born in 1934 in Dublin, Ireland.
A freelancer, Fergus Bourke was also official photographer of the National Theatre of Ireland (since 1971) and occasionally the stills photographer at the National Film Studios in Ireland. He belongs to the film section of the Irish Transport and General Workers Union. Using small format, he had a "decisive moment" style, his main subject matter being Ireland. He also made theater and ballet photography.
