OSSORY, FERNSLEIGHLIN was born on January 2, 1859. Son of late John Charles D'Arcy of Dublin (4th son of late John D'Arcy, Justice of the Peace, of Hyde Park, Company Westmeath), and Henrietta Anna, daughter of late Thomas Brierly of Rehoboth House, Dublin.

Studied at High School and Trinity College, Dublin. 1st Science Scholar and Gold Medallist in Mental and Moral Philosophy. 1st Class Divinity; Bachelor of Arts 1882.
