Studied at Blackheath Proprietary School. Royal Military Academy, Woolwich.
Career
Lieutenant R.A. 1 October 1857. Captain 1870; Major 1877. Brew Lieutenant-Colonel 1884.
Colonel 1888; Major-General 1897. Campaign in Egypt, 1882. Soudan, 1884; Nile, 1884-1885 as Deputy-Assistant-Adjutant-General and Assistant-Adjutant-General.
Three times mentioned in despatches. Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel and Companion of the Bath. Became Attorney - General for R.A. at headquarters, 1894.
Governor Royal Marine Artillery, Woolwich, 1897-1901. Justice of the Peace, Company Kent. B. 1885; retired pay.
