Educated Academy de Bellas Artes, Mexico City. Traveled in Europe, 1904-1912. Studied under Francisco Gall in Spain.
Served in Mexican revolutionary army under General Angeles, 1912-1918. Undertook at the instance of Doctor Manuel Gamio an archaeological reconnaissance in the valley of San Juan Tclotihuacán, where he secured material and inspiration for his painting. From this epoch, date a great quantity of studies, notes, sketches (carbons, pastels, water colors) which eventually found their way into private collections and into the reception room of the Undersecretary of Public Education.
At various times Sr. Goitia has held expositions, notably in Barcelona, Spain, and in Washington, District of Columbia (1924). The best collection of his works is in the building of the Ministry of Education in Mexico City. In recent years he has remained somewhat aloof from artistic and official circles and has spent much time teaching drawing to the children in the schools of Xochimilco, the village of floating gardens adjacent to Mexico City.
