After being graduated from Rutgers University (1903), he returned to Japan (1903) and joined Sale & Company.
He was instrumental in developing Japan's can manufacturing and canning industry with Tatsunosuke Takasaki. He also played an important role in marketting Kamchatkan salmon abroad, in association with Seiroku Tsutsumi and Tsunejiro Hiratsuka from 1909 through Sale & Company. He has given much study to dietary problems of the Japanese people. He established Japan (Japanese-American) Engineering Company in 1950 and became its president.
