In 1975 Edwards finished Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and got Bachelor of Journalism degree with honors.
Frank started his career as an assistant editor in 1975 at Canadian Geographic in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and held the post till 1978. The next year, he started to work as an associate editor at Harrowsmith Magazine, Camden East, Ontario, Canada. Edwards served on this position till 1982. In 1981 Edwards was promoted to an executive editor, position he held until 1981.
From 1981 to 1985 Frank Edwards worked as an executive editor. Since 1986 he held the post of a publisher for Bungalo Books in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and Tucson, Arizona, United States.
What is more, from 1985 till 1989 Frank Edwards worked as a publisher and editorial director at Camden House, Inc. In 1995 he became a president of Hedgehog Productions and held the post of an instructor of St. Lawrence College.
Besides, he was on military service at Canadian Army Reserve from 1968 to 1970.
In 2002 Frank teamed up with a former Canadian Geographic colleague, Janet Uren (who operates Ottawa’s WordImage), to take on a number of educational projects for the National Capital Commission (NCC), the new Canadian War Museum and the Archives of Ontario. In 2007 Edwards wrote and researched a biography of bestselling author Robert Munsch for Fitzhenry-Whiteside. In the fall of 2009, he began to write feature obituaries for the Globe & Mail.
As well as research and writing projects for adult audiences for the NCC, the National Arts Centre, the Canadian War Museum and the Archives of Ontario, Frank has also written several television scripts for children’s producer Sinking Ship Productions - Roll Play. He also works with: Ottawa’s Contentworks, most recently creating editorial material for Parks Canada, and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
In the past decade, Frank has travelled across Canada and the United States, visiting schools to talk about his love of reading and writing. His presentations have taken him to the northern coast of Labrador, the Mackenzie River Valley in Northwest Territories, Houston, Qatar and Bahrain.
Over his career, Frank has written about 30 books, a mix of children’s picture books, adolescent novels and non-fiction history, science and biography. Using his understanding of school curriculum and children, the author helped to develop a series of programs to deliver client messages to students and teachers. It is important to mention, that Frank's biography of author Robert Munsch for Fitzhenry-Whiteside was nominated for the Ontario Library Association’s 2010 Silver Birch non-fiction award.
On November 29, 1980 Frank married Susan Elizabeth Cross, a teacher. The couple has three children: Kristen, Scott and Hayley.
