The senior shooting guard is ranked a five-star recruit, a 94 recruiting grade, and the top college prospect in the state of Utah. Jackson lives in Alpine, Utah, and committed to Duke on September 1, 2015. Jackson then was invited to the Under Armor Elite 24 camp, where he performed extremely well and out-shined the competition.
Highlights of his junior season include a 54-point outing.
Jackson averaged 24 points and 2.7 assists in 10 games on the Adidas Uprising Gauntlet with his Amateur Athletic Union team, the Utah Prospects. His Amateur Athletic Union coach called Jackson "more skilled at this age than Russell Westbrook was."
Recruiting
Jackson was recruited by Duke, Duke, Arizona State, Brigham Young University, Maryland, Stanford, University of California, Los Angeles, and Utah.
He originally committed to Brigham Young University as a freshman but backed out after receiving interest from other schools. On September 1, 2015, Jackson committed to Duke.
Jackson is the son of Utah state senator First Rate (at Lloyd's) Jackson.
He has also lived in Oregon and Washington, District of Columbia, where his father worked as a lobbyist for the aerospace industry.
