He entered the office of E. C. and George C. Gardner (a leading firm in the city) as architectural student, and in the following years was employed as draftsman. During the early part of the present century Mr. King opened an office in Springfield under his own name, and continued independent practice until the time of his death. He designed the Van Siede Junior High School, Faith Congregational Church, the Hampton County Court House, and the City Trades' School, all in Springfield, the latter under construction at the time of his decease. He was also commissioned architect of buildings in other cities, among which was the Franklin County Court House at Greenfield, Mass.
Mr. King was a member and past-president of the old Architectural Society of Western Massachusetts, also was active in municipal affairs, serving on the City Building Department's Board of Appeals for six years.
