The young man attended the Chappaqua Institute, and studied architecture under private tutors.
Beginning work in Brooklyn he designed suburban residences at Long Branch, N. J., Tuxedo Park, N. Y., Bar Harbor, Me., and in many other locations, office buildings in New York, including #110 William Street where he made his headquarters after 1920. He also designed the Kings County Court House in Brooklyn, Fire Engine houses, Park Buildings, Public Baths, etc., in New York and Brooklyn. In addition to professional practice Mr. Quinby found time to work for improved social conditions in the New York area, assisting the Goodwill Industries and other such organizations.
An early member of the Brooklyn Chapter, A. I. A. In 1896 was elected to Institute Fellowship.
