Formerly in the ivory and ostrich feather trade, and a member of the firm of Whiteley, Walker, and Company, of Mafeking, Bulawayo, Palapye, et cetera Some years President of Mafeking Chamber of Commerce. Mayor of Mafeking during siege, 1899- 1900 (despatches, Companion of Saint Michael and Saint George).
