Bigelow, Frank Hoffnagel was born on June 10, 1873 in New York City. Son of Loyal Alpheus and Elizabeth (Hoffnagel) Bigelow.
Preparatory education, Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville, Tennessee) and Beeman Academy. Bachelor of Arts, Middlebury College, 1894. Studied Union Theological Seminary, Columbia University (post-graduate).

Ordained deacon, 1899, priest, 1900, Protestant Episcopal Church. Was with St. Paul Church, Natick, Massachusetts, 1899-1903. Vicar St. Luke’s Church, Stamford, Connecticut, 1903-1911.
Assistant rector St. John’s Church, Bridgeport, 1915. Later rector Trinity Church, Lime Rock, Connecticut, and rector Christ Church, Pomfret, until 1927. Headmaster Rectory School, Pomfret, since 1920.
