Abbot, Frederic Vaughan was born on March 4, 1858 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Henry Larcom and Mary Susan (Everett) Abbot.


Graduate Flushing (Long Island) Institute 1873. Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1879.


Second Lieutenant engineer corps, June 13, 1879. Advanced through grades to colonel, June 24, 1909, brigadier general N.A., August 5, 1917. Survery of boundary line bet.

Maryland. and Virginia, 1883-1884. Assistant to chief of engrs. United States Army, August 12, 1900-1910.
