He was educated in New England, the youth studied architecture at Tufts College, West Medford, Massachusetts.
During employment in Boston offices he completed his training and gained valuable experience. After opening his own office in the city, Mr. Marsh carried on work until 1918 when he left to settle in California. During his remaining years he practiced in Pasadena, designing several notable public buildings in southern California, among which should be named the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and the Alhambra Public Library.
