He graduated from Tokyo University (1916) where he studied German literature.
Career
In 1927 he joined a leftwing literary magazine,"Bungei Sensen" and later became the chief executive officer of the Proletarian Writers League. Traveled in Germany with his wife (1930-32).
Politics
After the Pacific War, he joined the Japan Communist Party.
