Fujiwara no Motomitsu was born in 1010. He was the fourth son of Yorinari Fujiwara.
His career is little known, except that Fujiwara no Motomitsu studied the Rose School of painting and excelled in painting Buddhist images. The most well-known work of Motomitsu is the one depicting Priest Prince Shoshin which is preserved in the Kanchodo Hall on Mi. Koya.
