Graduated from Economic Department of Kyoto University (1923).
He specialized in Marxian economics. Served as professor of Doshisha University (1924-43). Served as instructor of Ritsumeikan University (since 1952). Made effort in translating various original copies of Marxian economics. The complete translation in three volumes of Das Kapital was published after the war. This was the second complete translation of this book and regarded better and a more faithful translation than the first translation completed by Motoyuki Takabatake. Other of Marx’s books translated by him include “Wage, Labor and Capital,” and “Wage, Price and Profit.” Also translated Rosa Luxenburg’s “Accumulation of Capital.”
