Funabashi Hidekata was tutor on Chinese classics to two emperors, Goyozei and Gomino-o. Seika Fujiwara and Razan Hayashi, two great Confucian scholars, were his contemporaries. Was once received in audience by Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa. Endeavored to preserve the traditional school of Confucian learning.
