Furuhashi Hironoshin graduated from Nihon University (1951).
While still in school he created a new swimming record in the All-Japan Short Racing event. Later he lost a finger in an accident but this did not deter him from going on to create a new world record in the 400 meters free style event with a timing of 4 mins. 48 seconds (1946). The next year he established more records for 200, 300, 400, 500,1,000 and 1,500 meters. All these records, however, were unofficial. Was invited to participate in the All-America Swimming Meet where he created a world record for 400, 800 and 1,500 meters race with a timing of 4 min. 33.3 seconds, 9 mins. 35.5 seconds and 18 mins.19 seconds respectively (1949).
