1913 graduate General Staff Academy. Career, veteran of the Russo Japanese War (1904) and World War 1 (1914-1918). From 1918 in the Red Army.
During Civil War chief of staff, 2nd Army on Eastern Front, Special Army Group on Southern Front, then Southeastern Front. 1921-1922 assistant commander in chief of Soviet armed forces in Siberia. 1922-1924 assistant commandant, Military Academy.
1924 retired on medical grounds.
