After graduating from the Belarusian State University (BSU) in 1954 was on a scientific and educational work at BSU Institute of Physico-Chemical Problems, Byelorussian Academy of Sciences. In 1964-1965 he was deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR State Committee for the Coordination of scientific research. In 1965-1973 - Associate Professor, Head of Department, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry BSU. In 1973-1985 he held the post of Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the BSSR and this time stopped teaching. In 1989-1990, he served as deputy principal, and from 1990 to 1995 - the principal of BSU.
Author of scientific publications in the field of structural and chemical modification of cellulose and its derivatives. Explained the effects of organic solvents on the reactivity of nitric oxide and cellulose, found the effect of amorphization of cellulose and proposed a mechanism for selective oxidation reaction of cellulose with nitric oxide and its direct dissolution in mixtures of nitric oxide with an electron-donor solvents.
